The expectations and unwavering excitement are building up to one of the most important moments in the NFL offseason – schedule release day.
NFL fans around the league are desperate to find out who they will be playing on the opening day and they are set to play their bitter divisional rivals.
Franchises know which teams they meet at their home stadiums and who they will go on the road against.
Furthermore, the opening night is set to be hosted by the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
Chiefs are scheduled to open the 2024 season but opponent has not been released
Traditionally, for the last two decades, the reigning Super Bowl champions have unveiled their new banner at the start of the season in the opening game.
Therefore, the Chiefs are set to host but their opponent continues to remain a mystery.
FS1 expert Nick Wright believes that the Chiefs will open up against the Super Bowl dark horses the Houston Texans.
Reporters and fans around the league were hopeful that the schedule would be released this week but it has been bumped back to next week.

Travis Kelce makes crucial change to Roger Goodell’s 18-game proposal
In addition. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell proposed this offseason of tweaking the NFL schedule.
His proposal: adding an extra game to the football calendar for all teams, making franchises play 18 games, in conjunction with scrapping the last preseason game, and then having only two preseason matches.
Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce has claimed that this could work but one extra aspect must be added.
“I’m with that, by like Joey Burrow said, ‘If you’re gonna give us more days we have to play or more weeks we have to play’, gives us a ____ing bye week,” Kelce said via his New Height podcast.
The NFL only changed to a 17-game season back in 2022
Roger Goodell has proposed a modification of the old schedule, with the latest 17-game season adaptation coming back in 2022.
The whole idea is centered around generating as much money by hosting more games, leading to greater broadcasting revenue.
However, the change would not be able to come about at the sacrifice of player wellbeing.
Therefore, that is why players are suggesting adding in an extra bye week to give them more resting time.
Currently, all teams have one compulsory bye week but they would demand more if their workload increased.
This plan would need to have the majority support of the NFL Players Association, which is why an extra bye could be make-or-break in the new offer.
