Travis Kelce gutted to see Chiefs lose teammate who spent the Super Bowl ‘screaming at the sideline’

Kansas City needed a second-string offensive lineman at a critical moment in the season and he delivered a show all the way, including in the Super Bowl.

Nick Allegretti said goodbye to the Kansas City Chiefs after signing a contract with the Washington Commanders, as they seek to rebuild their roster.

The guard had to replace Joe Thuney, who suffered a pectoral injury in the Divisional Round against the Buffalo Bills, a week before the AFC Championship Game with the Baltimore Ravens – he even played in all the snaps.

During his run as a starter, Allegretti didn’t disappoint. He had appeared in 79 snaps in the regular season so far.

In the Super Bowl rematch against the San Francisco 49ers, the OT suffered an elbow injury after Nick Bosa finished a tackle over his arm in the second quarter. Everyone thought it would be necessary to put in a backup third-stringer, but Allegretti remained active and played the game as usual.

Two days after the Super Bowl, NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero confirmed Allegretti’s injury.

He finished the game with a torn elbow UCL, 79 snaps (the same number as in the regular season) and another championship ring for his collection.

Nick Allegretti leaves Kansas City

Travis Kelce expressed his affection for his offensive partner on his podcast New Heights.

“You can’t have everything going your way all the time, and the Chiefs lost one of my favourite ___ing teammates of all time.”

“The guy that tears his UCL and plays the rest of the Super Bowl screaming at the sideline to get him an elbow brace. Nicky Allegretti.”

Although they are now in different teams, Kelce said he’s happy for his friend’s achievement and for what’s to come in the new chapter of his career. He will also remember their time together in Las Vegas.

“You know I couldn’t be happier for Nicky, kind of being just such an awesome dude in the building, and one of the most accountable guys both on and off the field.”

“Both me and Nicky got to get to spend some good times in Vegas.”
