The Draft is now here. It’s a crucial moment when the team’s future takes shape. It will be the time when the Dallas Cowboys lay out their strategy, shedding light on the direction they intend to take.
Amid the speculation and conjecture, one certainty remains: Dak Prescott will still be in charge of the Cowboys’ quarterback position in 2024. However, the question hanging in the air is about next season. Will Dallas opt to draft a signal-caller, regardless of the round?
There are rumours, but many experts predict that the team’s main priority is to secure an offensive lineman, a crucial element to reinforce Prescott’s protection on the field.
For America’s Team, the ability to identify and cultivate young talent has long been a trademark. Still, the crux of their success in the Draft lies not only in selecting promising candidates, but also in recognising the exact needs of the team.

It’s time to think about Prescott’s replacement
LeSean McCoy, on Wednesday’s edition of Speak show, expressed his desire to see the Cowboys pick a quarterback in the Draft.
“Should have been did that. Oh, same results, right? Great regular season, this year was even greater, give them credit for that, but it’s the same thing: they do well, and then they get to the postseason and he shows up. So if you’re asking me, I would definitely get his replacement.”
He added that there was no need to do this from the very first choice. The last QB Dallas selected in the first round was Troy Aikman – since then, the franchise has gone through Tony Romo and currently has Prescott.
“Even if it’s not a first rounder, even a second rounder, the Cowboys showed you before that, ‘Hey, we get your franchise quarterback, not in the 1st, 2nd round, we go later in that’, and they did it with Tony Romo and they did it with Dak. I think it’s time, every good thing comes to an end. Anyway, Dak has done a good thing for the Cowboys, but his time is up.”
Shady doesn’t see Dallas extending Dak Prescott
The former NFL player no longer has any hope, either that the Dallas QB will deliver a performance unlike any he’s ever seen or that the organisation will pay too much for an extension.
“The reason why they ain’t paid him yet… Well, what quarterback that has a second MVP running in an All Pro and don’t get a contract extension? That’ll never happen, but when you have other great players that are greater than you on your team that you got to go out there and pay and the main focus is always the quarterback, but every time it gets into the postseason, he shows up in a negative way.”
In general, the roster hasn’t changed significantly. It’s hard to expect a drastic transformation from one year to the next.
