Mike McCarthy’s future was questioned after the disastrous playoff exit at the hands of the Green Bay Packers.

Jerry Jones decided to keep the former Super Bowl winner despite large sections of the fan base asking for his departure.

The Dallas Cowboys head coach now enters the final year of his contract in the hot seat.

McCarthy enters the final season as the head coach

Anything but an NFC Championship win will see the 60-year-old clean out his desk come January 2025.

America’s Team has persisted in the head coach knowing that a massive rebuild could be incoming.

Skip Bayless has been vocal about his criticism of McCarthy in the past and was shocked they have opted to stick by him.

On his show Undisputed, the conversation was centered around the Houston Texans all-in roster additions.

Both Keyshawn Johnson and Bayless compared America’s Team and Houston’s starters.

DeMeco Ryans is better than McCarthy

Categorically, the Texans were favored to be the better team going into the 2024 season.

However, the players were not the only team members compared.

Johnson stated: “They (Texans) have the better head coach.”

Bayless completely agreed with the former Cowboys wide receiver and promoted him to give a brutal verdict.

Bayless claimed: “They (Texans) have the better leader at head coach, they have the better commander at head coach, I like his body language on the field (DeMeco Ryans).

“Mick McCarthy is just a bump on the sideline log. He just goes on along for the ride. I do think he is a good, to sometimes very good play caller, but he needs a quarterback to execute said plays.”

Bayless praises McCarthy’s play-calling

Amid the verdict, Bayless does believe McCarthy does have quality to his play calling on occasions.

DeMeco Ryans is rated higher than the Cowboys head coach.

The Houston Texans’ head coach has the luxury of receiving contending players and McCarthy is limited with the Cowboys cap space.

America’s Team and the Texans will meet at AT&T Stadium in the 2024 season, so the debate can be settled then.
