Questions marks have surrounded Jerry Jones this offseason with how he runs the Dallas Cowboys.

Jones is a unique owner, his burning love for football is on display with his involvement with the team.

The 81-year-old is the owner, president, and general manager of America’s Team.

Moreover, his hands-on approach has been criticized by many NFL personalities and fans.

Jerry Jones makes a bold decision to fire legendary head coach

Jerry Jones saw one of the most revolutionary franchise takeovers in sporting history.

He fired legendary head coach Tom Landry immediately after he acquired the Cowboys.

Jones installed Jimmy Johnson as the new man in the Dallas hot seat and the relationship flourished.

By 1995, America’s Team had won three Super Bowls in the first seven years of the Jerry Jones era.

However, their world dominance was blown heavily off course in the decades to come.

Their 1995 Super Bowl victory is the last final they have ever appeared in.

Furthermore, the same year was their last NFC Championship game.

Sharpe says Jerry Jones ‘wants to be the face’ of the franchise

Shannon Sharpe spoke on the Nightcap podcast and had a theory about why Jones is so desperate for another ring.

The former tight end explained: “Jerry wants to be the face [of the franchise], that’s why he can’t bring a strong coach in that can potentially win because he is gonna get something that Jerry never got, which is credit.

“Jimmy [Johnson] got the credit, and even when they won the Super Bowl without Jimmy they said, ‘You won it with Jimmy’s players’.

“He [Jones] has got to win one more of these things [rings] but he has got to do it with a coach that falls in line.”

Lack of credit for previous rings infuriates the Cowboys’ owner

Sharpe believes Jerry Jones is bitter about the lack of credit he got when they won three Super Bowls between 1992-1995.

The Hall of Fame tight end is sure the Cowboys owner wants to win a ring without Jimmy Johnson so he receives the credit.

Mike McCarthy is seen as the perfect head coach who ‘falls in line’ and will not steal the spotlight from Jones.

Could that be why the Cowboys opted to stick with McCarthy instead of pursuing Bill Belichick?
