The dust has settled around the situation with Mecole Hardman and the New York Jets but one of their defensive stars has commented on the situation.
A fortnight ago Hardman slammed the New York Jets disjointed offense in an explosive interview.
In retaliation to the Chiefs player, Jets punter Tomas Morstead ridiculed his ex-teammate.
The Jets player said: “Be careful getting information from disgruntled former employees.
“Getting beat out by a rookie free agent after being guaranteed millions of dollars is tough to deal with.”
Hardman gameplan leak accusation
More drama unraveled further when days later reports surfaced that Jets players believed Hardman leaked gameplans.
This prompted Hardman to release a personal statement denying the accusations.
Hardman’s stay in New York only lasted a mere five games – including one catch – before being traded back to the Chiefs.
Furthermore, the 26-year-old is now a free agent after securing the Super Bowl-winning touchdown.

Now, ex-college Sauce Gardner appeared on the same Pivot podcast that Hardman threw shade on the Jets with.
The All-Pro cornerback did not seem surprised by Hardman’s behavior: “The first thing I thought was that he (Hardman) talks a lot, so I wasn’t really surprised by him getting on a podcast and talking about everything.”
“He shouldn’t have got on there and talked about the Jets because he could of just took the high road… you won a Super Bowl.”
The Jets’ ‘standard’
Hardman referred to the ‘standard’ on the Jets’ offense, and Gardner said ‘the standard is the standard…everyone has to follow the standard.”
The former Jet mainly had a bone to pick with the offense in the Big Apple and was complimentary of the defense.
Nonetheless, Gardner implied the ‘standard’ applies to all segments of the franchise.
No one is different.
Gardner explained how there are no individuals and it is a good standard they have: “Robert Saleh did a great job implementing the standard.
“You know the offense, defense, special teams it is no ego-driven programme.”
Hardman needs a new team
Evidently, the 2021 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year does not agree with the comments that were made.
In the end, the Jets are striving to become an AFC East contender next year when Aaron Rodgers is healthy.
Hardman now has to find a new team in free agency.
Their paths will most likely not cross again… but who knows?
