All the talk in Kansas City the past few days has been about receivers who can’t catch.

So let’s hear it for running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, one player who did perform well in the Chiefs Week 15 win over the New England Patriots.

Edwards-Helaire caught all four of his targets for 64 yards and a touchdown, also running for 37 yards, totalling more than 100 yards from scrimmage.

He was a big part of the Chiefs 27-17 win, with the Super Bowl champions bouncing back from two consecutive losses.

Edwards-Helaire has new nickname

The Chiefs have today released new sideline footage of Edwards-Helaire being congratulated by his impressed teammates after a stunning two-handed grab.

One of them was center Creed Humphrey who walked over to Edwards-Helair and said: “Was that Clyde or was that Calvin Johnson out there?”, referencing the Detroit Lions legendary wide receiver, better known to many as ‘Megatron’.

Fellow running back Jerrick McKinnon chimed in, “Calvin Clyde Johnson, Lil’ Megatron, Minitron.”

Edwards-Helaire responded modestly, “I was just trying to stay in bounds.”

McKinnon and Edwards-Helaire have been splitting the running back work since Isiah Pacheco suffered an injury.

Pacheco is aiming to return for Week 16 against the Raiders. If he is not good to go, then the Chiefs have a couple of running backs more than happy to step up.
