Mahomes explains why he deserves ‘credit’ for Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s relationship

The relationship between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift is certainly the most buzzed-about in the NFL at the moment.

It all started in 2023, when Travis Kelce decided to make a friendship bracelet with his number on it to give to Taylor Swift at the end of one of her concerts on The Eras Tour.

Friendship bracelets are a tradition among fans. The origin comes from the lyrics of the song ‘You’re on Your Own, Kid’, from Swift’s album ‘Midnights’, released in 2022.

Kelce tried to get close to the singer via a ‘must-have item’ from the Swifties. But he failed to deliver the gift to her.

The details of how the couple actually had their first contact are not known.

After the artist attended many of the Kansas City Chiefs’ games, she naturally became close to her boyfriend’s circle of friends.

Especially Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany. Swift and the tight end have already appeared at events in the company of the couple and even went out for dinner with Brittany and other friends.

In addition, the singer watches almost every game with the Mahomes family.

The Kansas City quarterback, in an appearance on the Pat MacAfee show, gave a little behind-the-scenes insight into Kelce’s relationship.

“I like to take some of the credit. I was the one who invited Travis to his first Taylor concert,” revealed.

“He was sitting in my suite, so I feel like I was the matchmaker,” Mahomes confessed. “I had some input in there as well. I was like, ‘Dude, just go for it, just go for it.’ And you know Travis, man, he does it. He’s a great dude, and I’m glad it’s all worked out for the best.”
