The Kansas City Chiefs could have landed one of the most complete tight ends in the NFL Draft and he has no intention of being sidelined for his rookie year.
Jared Wiley had to wait until the fourth round to hear his name echoed on the microphone with the Chiefs 3rd overall pick.
Brett Veach landed their man in the fourth round and hopes to have found their heir to Travis Kelce.
Just like Kelce, Wiley started his football dream in high school as the team’s starting quarterback.
However, both players altered their career paths with life-changing decisions, to pursue the job as a tight end.
Travis Kelce and Wiley switch from throwing passes to receiving for Mahomes
Neither player has looked back at their decision with regret as they are catching dimes off Patrick Mahomes.
Kelce will be on the Chiefs roster for a minimum of two more years as the most expensive tight end of all time.

Moreover, the Chiefs will be looking at Kelce to mentor the 23-year-old out of Texas Christian University.
In his final season before declaring for the NFL Draft, Wiley registered 520 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
His eight scores were the joint highest for a tight end that season, as he hauled in 47 receptions.
Wiley has shown he has the endurance to play every single snap in 2024
Wiley had shown exceptional confidence in his ability during his interview at the Senior Bowl.
“I am not a situational type player who needs to come in only on running plays,” when asked about his improved blocking abilities.
“I feel I can be on the field for every down. I can be assigned blocking or catching a pass and fill in both of those areas. You have to be a complete tight end and never expect to be off the field.”
Wiley has the swagger of the rookie that franchises lust for when searching for their next upcoming stars.
Furthermore, he has no intention of manning the sideline and keeping the bench warm in his rookie year.
Wiley possesses vacuum hands and has the frame to block hard
Of course, he is not only good for blocks! Wiley must have had super glue stuck to his hands because he only dropped one pass off 120 targets in college.
Overall, he has a strong frame and size which will be paramount when helping with crucial block schemes.
His agility will create space for himself but he must improve his deceptive body language to keep the defender always guessing.
Wiley has the perfect mentor to learn from in his opening years!
