Jerry Jones makes his feelings very clear on Dak Prescott’s ability to win the Super Bowl

Dak Prescott has won just two playoff games in his eight years as Dallas quarterback.

The ‘All-in’ Dallas Cowboys of owner Jerry Jones are going through a difficult period, at least for fans and people outside the organization.

It is not known whether Dak Prescott will be signing a contract extension with America’s Team in the near future. Although there are rumors that Jones has plans to prolong his time in the franchise, there’s nothing concrete to back it up yet.

The QB is coming off a career-best season: he led the NFL in touchdown passes, his passer rating was 105.9 with 4,516 yards and he finished second in the voting for MVP of the season.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys have unfinished business ahead of them, with the contracts of CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons, the other two stars of the team and two of the top players in the league at their positions.

The team still has Trevon Diggs and Zack Martin, two crucial pieces in the squad. And it seems that Jones is building on this: keeping in mind that the presence of his QB and good veterans could be the key to Dallas achieving a happier outcome in the 2024 season.

He fully believes that Prescott is worthy of winning a Super Bowl with the Cowboys.

“I think there are a handful or more of quarterbacks playing who haven’t won a Super Bowl that will win a Super Bowl.’’

“I think Dak is one of them. I’m firm there. He’s one of the ones who can.’’

Jones thoughts on Dallas in the upcoming season

At the NFL meetings that took place this past Sunday, Jones wasn’t booked to speak, but ended up accidentally organizing a sort of press conference of his own.

The Cowboys owner was already aware that this offseason was going to be about letting some people go, because this year’s salary cap would be tough.

He also talked about the importance of him and the coaches understanding the responsibility they have on their shoulders right now and that they need to get the best out of their players.

“I think, as we move through, the clarity of the relationship to the salary cap to where and how you want to coordinate your roster, to me, has gotten clearer and clearer and clearer over time.”

“If you want the running back to be 70 percent of your offense, maybe you’d better pay him a lot more. But if you’re not going to use him like that, you’re right, you might can do it with less.”

And, of course, always praising the contribution of Dak Prescott.

“I think we’re going to be as close going in as we’ve been with the last three teams, with Dak.’’

“With Dak.”

“That is really the gist of what we’re about this year. We’ve got Dak. We want to get it done. I think we have been in a situation where we can get it done with less.”
