Hollywood Brown sends message after clinching Kansas City Chiefs deal, Patrick Mahomes responds

Kansas City is making excellent use of both internal and external free-agency signings. The team brought in a big receiver.

For a few months now, the Kansas City Chiefs have had their eye on former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, due to the team not knowing exactly what the player’s path would be as his contract was about to expire.

In a quick move, NFL media insider Ian Rapoport announced that Kansas City signed the player to a one-year deal, worth up to $11M that includes a chance to cash in next year.

Rapoport had suggested the Chiefs could wait for a trade involving L’Jarius Sneed before making a major signing like that for Brown.

His most notable season came with the Baltimore Ravens in 2021. The WR tallied 91 receptions for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns.

Mahomes’ new duo

The 26-year-old is set to be an explosive target for Patrick Mahomes. The wide receiver position was, by far, the one most needed by KC.

The Chiefs’ new weapon can bring speed to the offense and be a threat to opposing defenses. On the other hand, Brown’s injury issues could be a worrying factor – he hasn’t played a full season since 2020.

“Hollywood” was traded by the Cardinals to the Ravens in 2022. He didn’t get the long-term contract he was hoping for through the 2023 season.

It all got worse when he had to sit out due to a heel injury in what was supposed to be a probation year.

After the announcement of Brown’s signing, Patrick Mahomes posted a tweet with a smiley face emoji. He then responded to a post from Brown himself.

After the reconstruction of the signal-caller’s contract, the Chiefs are in full swing and committed to making more room in the trophy cabinet.
