The Dallas Cowboys have been helping the New York Jets in a specific way during the offseason.

Jerry Jones and the front office have all their attention set on the NFL Draft.

Nonetheless, they have been helping the New York Jets with one situation in the Big Apple.

Tyron Smith departed the Dallas Cowboys after 13 seasons with the franchise.

Smith departs the Cowboys in an emotional exit

The ‘Ring of Honor’ caliber player landed in free agency after a ‘mutually beneficial’ decision was reached to close the door on the Cowboys.

Smith sent an emotional farewell to Cowboys Nation on Instagram, the fans who have supported him since his draft in 2011.

However, the veteran offensive tackle has endured several serious injuries in his Cowboys career.

Smith has been unable to complete a full season since 2015 and this was a decisive factor in his departure.

The 33-year-old found a new team swiftly in free agency, the New York Jets.

He has signed a contract that has been incentivized on an injury-free approach.

Cowboys have been in conversation with the New York Jets

Jets head coach Robert Saleh has said there has been communication between themselves and the Cowboys during an interview.

Saleh was questioned about Smith and how they are looking to maximize his game time.

The 45-year-old referenced communication with the Cowboys, he said: “That’s what we are working on, trying to figure out what’s best for him (Smith). We are gathering information from Dallas.

“Whatever we come up with we’re gonna be excited about but obviously constant communication with him and speaking to him, the man wants to practice, the man wants to be on the field. Sounds like one of those guys we’re gonna have to protect for him.”

Smith has only been awarded a one-year deal due to his past injuries and lack of snap counts over the previous seasons.

Cowboys managed safeguard Smith last year

The veteran managed to play 13 games last season which was the most he had managed since 2019.

Evidently, the Cowboys protected Smith delicately with the plan in place and the Jets want information on that.

The two-time First-Team All-Pro will be protecting Aaron Rodgers at the Jets who has just come off a gruesome injury of his own.

Ultimately, the Jets are desperate to find the best way to protect their new offensive lineman.

How much information the Cowboys are willing to share will remain confidential.
