‘Every team in the league’ feels same way about Dallas Cowboys weakness, says Richard Sherman

The Dallas Cowboys defense is too weak, says Richard Sherman, after their mauling in Buffalo.

The Bills beat Dallas 31-10 on Sunday, with running back James Cook running all over the Cowboys defense for two touchdowns and more than 150 yards.

Quarterback Josh Allen did not even need to test himself, with Dallas losing the battle at the line of scrimmage with Buffalo wearing them down.

The Cowboys defense has been Jekyll and Hyde this season, beating up on the weaker teams and losing, sometimes heavily, on the road.

This latest loss has been dissected by the sports media with Stephen A Smith labelling the Cowboys as ‘bullies’.

Cowboys defensive strength is their weakness

This season Cowboys defensive co-ordinator Dan Quinn has found success with players in hybrid roles, with emerging stars like Markquese Bell operating as both safeties and linebackers.

Often this strategy has worked, spectacularly even. But it is also a tactic which some of the smarter or more physical teams have found a way to expose.

Richard Sherman told Undisputed: “I told you those safeties, the same thing that makes you laugh will make you cry.

“Those safeties that you love so much, and that have played so well, in the past game and the run game, they are starting to jump around these gaps, and jump around these three-hundred-pounders and that’s leading to big gaps.

“If they can get past your first level, DeMarcus Lawrence, and Dan Quinn stunting to stop the run, if they can get through that first wave, to that second level there are big yards to be had and every team feels that way because that’s the reason you don’t put safeties at linebacker, they are too light.”

“It’s not a slight against them as players, it’s why linebackers play linebackers they usually 240lb plus. That’s going to continue to be a problem.”

Sherman added that other teams will continue to try and expose the Cowboys in the same way the Bills did.

He said: “When you put that on tape, that is tape for everybody to see, and everybody is going to say hey, ‘get up on their linebackers and there is ground to be had.’
