Every team in the NFL is running scared of the Kansas City Chiefs, who are on the way to building an incredible dynasty.
What has been so incredible about the Kansas City Chiefs success is that the team has been built very organically, there has been no targeting of star players, no ‘ring chasers’ to echo Kevin Durant’s infamous move to the Golden State Warriors.
But there is still a sense the Chiefs need to get better on offense next season. The regular season was marred by drops, and many expect to see Kadarius Toney leave the team shortly.
Upgrades are needed to keep the team fresh, and you could not blame the stars of Free Agency for putting Kansas City number one on the list of potential destinations.
Working with Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes is a very attractive proposition for competitive sportsmen who simply want to win.
It is an attraction which can work to the team’s advantage in another way too. Players may even consider taking a salary discount, just to stand a stronger chance of winning a Super Bowl with Mahomes.

Take the challenge away from Kansas City
For teams trying to close the gap on Kansas City, it is a scary prospect to consider the Chiefs pulling further and further away from them, if they land the big free agents instead.
One much-talked about free agent is the Titans unstoppable running back Derrick Henry, who could certainly add something different to Isiah Pacheco.
This possibility was discussed on Undisputed, in a segment where former wide receiver Michael Irvin was trying to talk up the prospect of him signing with the Dallas Cowboys.
Irvin became angered by the possibility of Henry signing with Kansas City, and went on a real rant, claiming there would be no memorable success for the Tennessee Titans man if he did decide to become a Chief.
The Playmaker blasted: “Who is going to remember that JuJu Smith-Schuster won a Super Bowl? Nobody.
“Because you were a part of something in Kansas City.
“If Derrick Henry goes there, nobody is going to remember – you were a part of what Kansas City was doing and you just got added to it.
“You didn’t do anything to build it, you didn’t do anything to sustain it, you dipped your toe in it. That’s it.
“Going to Dallas is something different.”
Different, sure. Bigger rewards if successful in breaking their 30-year Super Bowl drought? Perhaps. It’s also a long shot.
A move to Kansas City is as close to a sure-thing for a star player as you can get in today’s NFL. Derrick Henry is 30, that’s old for a running back.
He may not have long left. If the Chiefs did want him, it is hard to believe he would turn them down.
But it is an interesting debate.
Kevin Durant quit Golden State eventually, feeling unsatisfied. It was Steph Curry’s team. But surely nobody is signing for Kansas City with intentions other than simply wanting to help and fit in with Patrick Mahomes. Nobody will want to try and outshine him.
Andy Reid will continue to be picky about who he does target, not wanting to upset what is a very stable and happy team.
