Dallas legend Dez Bryant is apparently a big fan of the Cowboys working out former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant.
The Cowboys came unstuck against the Eagles in their Week 9 matchup, with costly mistakes and fine margins ultimately seeing the team fall to their NFC East rivals 28-23.
Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb had himself a game, leading all pass catchers with 11 receptions for 191 yards. However, Brandin Cooks and Michael Gallup combined for just three catches and 26 yards.
Lamb leads the team by a wide margin in targets (72), receptions (57) and receiving yards (824) this season, and it’s abundantly clear Mike McCarthy’s offense needs more firepower.

Cowboys working out former Steelers WR who hasn’t played since 2018
Ahead of week 10, the Cowboys are hosting former Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant in a bid to strengthen their wideouts.
NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero recently reported that commissioner Roger Goodell has reinstated Bryant, who had previously been suspended indefinitely in December of 2018 for violating the “conditional reinstatement under the Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.”
Dez Bryant is seemingly a fan of the news
Bryant was selected by the Steelers in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft and had eight scores in only 10 games while ranking fifth in targets (48), receptions (26) and receiving yards (549).
He served a four-game suspension in 2015 but still put up impressive numbers, as he finished second on the team only behind All-Pro Antonio Brown in targets, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
However, he was suspended for the entirety of the 2016 season, and hasn’t played in the NFL since catching 19 passes for 266 yards while playing for the then-Oakland Raiders in 2018.
The 32-year-old has spent the last couple of years in other football leagues most notably playing for the Vegas Vipers last season in the XFL.
Cowboys legend Dez Bryant – who has no relation to the former Steelers man – appears to be a fan of the recent news. Bryant replied to a story about Martavis working out with the Cowboys, saying: ‘Yea yea yea… He him!’
While it’s unlikely he’ll set the world alight, Martavis Bryant could be a nice third option to backup Lamb and Cooks.
It’s an inexpensive, low-risk, high-reward move that the Cowboys are absolutely right to explore.
