Dak Prescott’s record against the Eagles at home is very eye-catching

It would be an understatement to say that Sunday’s matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles is massive to the Dallas Cowboys divisional aspirations.

The Cowboys are a game behind Philly but, with a victory, would hold the tiebreaker advantage because of having a superior record versus NFC East squads.

Dallas is entering the toughest stretch of their schedule, while it’s the polar opposite for Philly.

Heading into the weekend, only one of Philly’s next four opponents currently have six victories on the season, though the Seattle Seahawks have lost three in a row.

Conversely, the Cowboys face the Lions and Dolphins in the coming weeks, each with nine wins heading into Sunday, while the Bills have six.

Despite all the pressure, though, there are plenty of reasons to feel good about the Cowboys chances this weekend.

Prescott VS the NFC East

The offensive juggernaut that is the Dallas Cowboys come into this contest red-hot, lighting up defences across the league.

Dak Prescott is fresh off winning Player of the Month in November, tossing 20 TD passes and just two picks.

The doubters continuously point to the Cowboys’ easy schedule as the asterisk for why Dak doesn’t deserve to be in the MVP conversation.

When you examine his stats against his division, though, it’s hard not to give credit where credit is due.

Per Sports Illustrated, Prescott has a 30-8 record against NFC East teams.

This season, Mike McCarthy’s squad is showing no mercy to their divisional foes, putting up 157 points in four games, an average of 39.25, not bad for 60 minutes of work.

At home in 2023, Dallas is outscoring their divisional opponents by a score of 94-27.

Home Cooking

Evidence suggests that Dak Prescott and his team are in for a big outing this weekend.

Firstly, the Cowboys are on a 14-game home winning streak, including five in a row against the Eagles.

The last time around, Dallas was playing against Gardner Minshew, though Prescott outduelled Jalen Hurts in a Week 3 contest at AT&T Stadium in 2021, throwing three touchdown passes and finishing with a rating of 143.3.

Big numbers are part and parcel for Prescott at home versus the Eagles, with the Cowboys QB possessing a 5-1 record against them at AT&T Stadium.

In those six home contests, Dak has completed 70% of his throws, completing 148 of his 212 passes for 1,711 yards and 12 touchdowns.

The one concerning stat for Prescott over that span is his turnover problems, tossing eight interceptions in those six games, three in his lone home loss versus Philly in 2017 (37-9).

Dallas has scored 40+ points in four successive home games this season, while they’ve been equally impressive when welcoming Philly to town.

They’ve scored 40 or more points in back-to-back home fixtures versus the Eagles, averaging over 39 points per game against them in their last three matchups at AT&T Stadium.

In the six all-time home games for Prescott against Philly at home, his team is averaging 31 points per game.

If Dak can beat the reigning NFC East champions, he should be further ahead in the MVP voting.
