Dak Prescott says to ‘pour honey on him’ after Eagles matchup is compared to bear fight

Dak Prescott has come out with fighting talk after the Cowboys’ win over the Rams in Week 8. Dallas faces the Eagles next weekend in a game that has been likened to a bear fight.

Many Cowboys fans wondered how the team would look after last week’s bye; would they continue with the positive momentum from the Chargers win in Week 6, or would they come out of the blocks sluggish after a week of rest and recooperation?

Fortunately it was the former, as Dallas registered a resounding 43-20 victory over the Los Angeles Rams at AT&T Stadium on Sunday.

Cowboys QB finished with four touchdowns against the Rams

The Cowboys had some early issues with the pass rush as Dak Prescott was sacked on all three of his first three dropbacks.

However, Prescott was able to find his rhythm, throwing two passing touchdowns to CeeDee Lamb to help the Cowboys to a 33-9 halftime lead.

In the end, Dak finished 25 of 31 for 304 yards and four TD throws as the Cowboys registered their 11th straight home win and moved to 5-2 for the season.

The win perfectly sets up next week’s game against NFC East rivals the Philadelphia Eagles, who moved to 7-1 with a win against the Commanders on Sunday.

After the game, Dak spoke to reporters about the upcoming matchup. He was informed that just moments before, Jerry Jones had stated that he doesn’t want to “poke the bear” when it comes to talking about the Eagles.

“I’ve made every kind of mistake talking about [a game] too early or too late that you can make,” Jones said when reporters asked about his comments before the Cowboys loss to the San Francisco 49ers earlier this year. “And yeah, I learned from [the 49ers game], too.”

In reference to the Eagles, he said he won’t “poke the bear”.

However, Dak disagreed with Jones and indicated he wants all that Eagles smoke.

“Pour honey on me!” Prescott said. “I always say that. If you see me and a bear in a fight, pour honey on me.”

It’s certainly tough talk from Dak. The Cowboys have a decent record against the Eagles in recent times but Philly does boast the league’s best record.

Still, it’s good to see Dak in confident spirits ahead of what could be a season-defining game.

Speaking about winning back-to-back games, Prescott added.

“Let’s make it three next week. I’m in a rhythm.”

Let’s hope those words don’t backfire spectacularly next weekend.
