Filling the void left by Hill was always going to be difficult, and this latest stat proves just how big the Chiefs’ issues at wide receiver are in his absence.
Tyreek Hill was an integral part of the Chiefs offense for a number of years, helping the team win Super Bowl LIV in 2019.
During his time in Kansas City, Hill established himself as one of the league’s best wideouts, but in 2022 he was traded to the Miami Dolphins.
On Sunday, Hill will face his old team for the first time as the Chiefs and Dolphins lock horns in Frankfurt, Germany.

Crazy Tyreek Hill stat proves just how big the Chiefs issues at wide receiver are
Replacing the seven-time Pro Bowler was always going to be difficult for Kansas. Some would say it’s impossible.
While the team was able to win a Super Bowl last year without him, this season’s issues at wide receiver highlight just how dominant Reek was.
This season, Hill is leading the league with 1,014 yards and eight touchdowns through Week 8. ‘Cheetah’ is on pace for a historic 2,000-plus yard season, and with 112 yards receiving against the Patriots last week, he became the first player in the Super Bowl era to eclipse 1,000 yards receiving in his team’s first eight games.
Contrast that with the Chiefs’ receiver group and it’s night and day.
One particularly mind-blowing stat proves it: Through 8 games this season, Tyreek Hill has 61 receptions for 1,014 yards and 8 touchdowns.
Meanwhile – if you combine the stats of Rashee Rice, Justin Watson, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Skyy Moore, and Kadarius Toney – they have 87 receptions for 1,126 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Chiefs WRs have underwhelmed this season
Rookie Rashee Rice is second on the team in receiving yards (361) behind Travis Kelce (583), but even that is tied for 51st across the entire NFL.
Kadarius Toney has also been a non-factor; he’s got 19 receptions for 109 yards, averaging 5.7 yards per reception, down from 12.2 last season.
Skyy Moore has also massively struggled in his sophomore season. He’s tied for third on the team in targets and ranks sixth in receiving yards and seventh in total receptions. His passer rating when targeted, 54.6, ranks 112th in the league.

Andy Reid on facing Tyreek Hill this weekend
Last season Kansas won the Super Bowl with its receivers collectively coming together to fill some of the void left by Hill and Travis Kelce being his dominant self.
Andy Reid knows better than anyone what Hill can offer a team, and shared his thoughts on him before Sunday’s matchup.
“He’s a great player. I mean, that’s the bottom line,” Reid said in his press conference. “You might slow him down, but he was going to make plays somewhere. And that’s what makes him the player he is. He’s got speed, quickness, and he’s smart.”
Hill recorded 479 receptions for 6,630 yards with 56 touchdowns plus 93 carries for 719 yards with six touchdowns for Kansas City. He also had 84 catches for 1,081 yards with five touchdowns plus 12 carries for 91 yards with a TD in 13 postseason games in Kansas.
