It’s been quite the journey for Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey to this point of the regular season as the accolades keep rolling in for the former Notre Dame defender.
A day after winning NFC weekly honors, the former MLS draft pick with Toronto FC was named the conference’s Special Teams Player of the Month for October.
That capped off what has been a remarkable season thus far for the 28-year-old native of St. Louis.
Cowboys Kicker Automatic
In his opening game as a Cowboy, Aubrey missed an extra point, which was sure to have Dallas fans thinking here we go again.
Thankfully for the team and the former defender turned kicker, though, and unlike his predecessor Brett Maher, Aubrey’s been able to shake it off while being nothing but dependable since then.
Aubrey has made all 18 of his field goal attempts in his inaugural NFL campaign, including 17 successive extra points.
His range was put to the test for the first time all season last Sunday against the Rams, and Aubrey came through, booting a 58-yard field goal, going 2/2 in that game.
To this stage of his NFL career, Aubrey has made it look so easy, but if you know his background since transitioning to football, it should come as no surprise.
During his time in the USFL with the Birmingham Stallions, he helped them win the championship twice and was named to the All-USFL team in 2022.
He was 18/22 on field goals that year and 14/15 the following season before the Cowboys decided to take a chance on him.
Aubrey makes History
With all 19 of his field goals converted thus far, Aubrey has set an NFL record for the most consecutive kicks made to begin an NFL career.
As a result he surpasses Travis Coons for the all-time record in that category.
Heading into their game against the Eagles, Aubrey was third in the NFL regarding scoring with 71 points, while he leads the league in touchbacks with 43.

Aubrey began October by going 3/3 on his field goals against the New England Patriots before making his only attempt versus the 49ers.
He then went 2/2 on Monday Night Football in a victory over the Chargers and capped it off by doing the same against the Rams.
Aubrey is the first Cowboy player to win this monthly award in 24 years and only the fourth in team history, joining Jason Tucker (1999), Richie Cunningham (1997) and Chris Boniol (1996).
By winning the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors as well, Aubrey is the first rookie in Cowboys history to get that award since Dan Bailey in 2011.
Brett Maher won that a few times during his Cowboys tenure, once in 2019 and twice the year before that.
Meanwhile, Aubrey is also the second Dallas player to capture a monthly award in the NFL this season after linebacker Micah Parsons was named the Defensive Player of the Month for September.
