‘Come play here’…Three-time Pro Bowler wants Stephon Gilmore to join him in the NFC South

Stephon Gilmore remains one of the most experienced veteran corners on the free market and could be tempted to another NFC team.

The 33-year-old is a free agent after spending one season with the Dallas Cowboys.

He was part of the 2023 trade which saw him land in Dallas in exchange for a compensatory fifth-round draft pick to the New England Patriots.

Moreover, Gilmore recorded two interceptions in 2023 with one coming on his debut.

The Carolina native managed to play and start all 17 games last season; a healthy record.

Gilmore set to leave Dallas

America’s Team has toyed with the idea of resigning the cornerback but there has been no action so far.

Jerry Jones is overseeing a massive rebuild in Dallas, with many players hitting the open market.

Gilmore looks set on joining the list of players signing with new franchises in 2024.

Dallas Cowboys v Washington Commanders

One NFL analyst said Gilmore could switch to an AFC contender.

The Baltimore Ravens endured their fair share of injuries in defense last season and was a suitable spot.

Furthermore, Gilmore’s health record last season makes him a reliable player in a premium position.

His age does not put him in the market to be offered a multi-year deal, but his production is still strong.

But could the two-time First-Team All-Pro return to one of his old teams?

Carolina Panthers wanting Gilmore

Indications have emerged that there has been a conversation between Gilmore and the Carolina Panthers.

The five-time Pro Bowler had a brief stint with them in 2021 on a one-year deal but moved to the Indianapolis Colts in the offseason.

Now, the Panthers are keen on bringing Gilmore back to his home state.

Jadeveon Clowney recently signed a two-year deal with the Panthers after being released by the Baltimore Ravens.

As reported by Pro Football Talk, Clowney has publicly encouraged him to join the Panthers.

Clowney claimed he has reached out to Gilmore and is looking forward to the two playing together.

‘Come play here’

In Friday’s press conference, he said: “I’m looking forward to that. Hopefully, he pull and come play here. Me and him (Gilmore), have some fun here.”

The two players are both from Rock Hill and were high school teammates at South Pointe.

Could Gilmore and Clowney see a reunion blossom in 2024, the latter hopes so.
