The Dallas Cowboys are potentially saying goodbye to one of their starting cornerbacks and his best fit could be in the AFC says an NFL analyst.

Stephon Gilmore has hit the free agency market and the Cowboys have shown no signs of offering him a new contract.

Therefore, the cornerback is now one of the top players in the open market and is seeking a new deal.

Gilmore had a productive 2023 season

The veteran defensive back is coming off a healthy campaign where he recorded two interceptions, 54 solo tackles, and 13 pass deflections.

Although his production has slowed down in the past year, Gilmore remains a talented corner for any team.

Gilmore has played for six teams, starting with the Buffalo Bills and most recently the Dallas Cowboys.

Additionally, the cornerback has an impressive resume, ranging from two-time First-Team All-Pro to five Pro Bowl selections to the 2019 NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

The Indianapolis Colts traded Gilmore to America’s Team for a compensatory fifth-round selection in 2023.

He started his spell in Dallas in explosive fashion, recording four tackles and an interception in their shutout victory against the New York Giants (40-0).

But now the 2019 NFL interception co-leader is lingering in free agency and there is growing talk of who will be interested.

Baltimore could be Gilmore’s new home

On NFL ESPN, the conversation of the remaining best free agent and their potential teams was discussed.

Bill Barwell had this to say about Gilmore’s landing spot: “I love him going to the Baltimore Ravens.

“A team that battled injuries at cornerback last year… they need for me an outside corner who can step in on early downs if they wanna blitz and play man-to-man coverage.

“Gilmore gives you a lot of flexibility, he’s a mature veteran, a good tackle, and to me a win-now player for a win-now team in Baltimore.

Ravens could be very keen

As mentioned, the Ravens had their fair share of injury struggles in the secondary towards the end of the year.

Gilmore has only missed one game in the last two seasons and has the talent to join a contender.

Ultimately, the Ravens are coming off a bitter loss in the AFC Championship, so need the talent to go one step further.

So, is Gilmore that guy?
