Chiefs star Trey Smith celebrated at Wrestlemania after kind gesture to child during the Super Bowl parade shooting

The Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade turned from a dream to a nightmare after a violent shooting occurred.

After the Chiefs had been victorious in Las Vegas at Super Bowl LVIII, the traditional trophy tour occurred in Kansas City.

The shooting occurred at the end of the event causing hysteria among the crowd.

Sadly, 23 people were shot that fateful day with one person succumbing to their injuries.

Chiefs assistant GM’s son Joey calmed down by Trey Smith

Disgracefully, some of the victims were children with the youngest being six years old.

One of the children who attended the event was the son of the Chiefs’ assistant general manager Mike Borgonzi.

Moreover, his son Joe Borgonzi was understandably distraught about the scenes that were unraveling.

An occasion of rejoice, celebration, and cheer, had turned into a place of terror, horror, and fright.

However, the Chiefs guard maintained his composure in the shocking circumstances and came to the frightened Joey Borgonzi’s side.

During WrestleMania XL last night, a small video was played during the sporting event.

The video depicted how Trey Smith had helped calm down Joe amid the shooting through their love of wrestling they share.

Smith recalled the events when the two talked about their favorite wrestlers: “Wrestling was just the common factor, he started calming down and he started chuckling a little bit. That was just the best moment.”

Then Joey recalled Trey Smith’s words: “He (Smith) was saying, ‘You’re the champion, you’re the champion’. He said it so much that I started to believe it and I really forgot about what was happening outside.”

When asked about what a hero is, Joey stated: “Somebody who can, like Trey, calm nervous people down, he made me feel happy, really really happy in a really scary time. I say that is what a hero is.”

The events from today with be with Joey for the rest of his life but it is a testament to Smith that he was a glimmer of light in such a dark moment.

Ultimately, the love of wrestling the two shared was a calm medium in all the commotion.

Peacock played the video for millions as they tuned in for the biggest wrestling event of the calendar year.

This demonstrates the love of sport is powerful and bonding.

Smith was recently a recipient of $865,484 from the NFL performance-based pay system.

He has one year left on his current deal in Missouri so could be a free agent come 2025.
