The Kansas City Chiefs have concluded their rookie minicamp on Monday and Xavier Worthy’s minicamp performances allowed the front office to halt their interest in one wide receiver.

All the rookies, drafted and undrafted, participated in the Chiefs’ 3-day training program to give them a feel of the NFL experience.

Andy Reid and his coaching staff were able to get a closer look at all their new player additions and numerous undrafted rookies who they could be tempted to sign down to deals.

History has shown that there are still gems to be discovered in the undrafted rookie pool and the scouts of Kansas City have some of the best eyes in the league.

Overall, 79 players participated in the non-padded drills meaning there would be no contact.

However, this has still given the Chiefs a healthy period to get a closer insight into all the rookies and get to know them on a more personal level in the franchise environment.

NFL: MAR 01 Scouting Combine

One of the Chiefs’ most exciting talents of the NFL Draft is their first-round acquisition Xavier Worthy.

Moreover, clips in training have circulated on social media of the fastest man in Combine history showing his speed and route running in training.

The college football speed freak has already shown his ability in pads while at the Texas Longhorns.

Xavier Worthy’s showing at the rookie minicamp stopped the Chiefs’ interest in a former Bengal

Throughout the minicamp, Worthy impressed so much that the Chiefs decided to drop their interest in Tyler Boyd, per Matt Derrick.

Yesterday, the Cincinnati Bengals free agent was snapped up by the Tennessee Titans on a one-year deal.

Yet, the Chiefs could have made a move before that deal was signed off.

Chiefs expert Derrick said that Worthy had impressed so much during camp that the franchise was comfortable with the state of the wide receiving core.

Therefore, they dropped all interest in Tyler Boyd who had hit free agency for the first time in his career.

Tyler Boyd searched for a new scene after being overshadowed by Chase and Higgins

The 29-year-old’s numbers have suffered since the emergence of star talents Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.

Ultimately, key figureheads like Brett Veach and Reid are comfortable with Worthy’s production in training.

Fans have suggested that the teams add a veteran receiver into the core but nothing has emerged yet.
