Brett Veach and the front office were locked in on supplementing their roster to give them the best chance at the illustrious three-peat in 2024.
The Kansas City Chiefs addressed their key position of left tackle and wide receiver by the second round of the NFL Draft.
In addition, they have hoped to have drafted Travis Kelce’s successor Jared Willey out of TCU in the fourth round.
The Chiefs also targeted their secondary in the later rounds on Day three.
However, the end of the NFL Draft does not halt the conversations about new rookies.

Chiefs eye up undrafted rookies to help bulk out their roster
All the undrafted rookies joined their own free agency hoping that their dream of playing in the NFL can be fulfilled.
Despite not being the headline-grabbing rookies and having the overwhelming joy of their name being called out, there is still plenty of talent to be sourced from undrafted rookie free agency.
Kansas City has wasted no time in the free-for-all rookie pool and has agreed deals with numerous players.
Although they might be cheaper alternatives, the professional free agency is still open and teams will continue to analyze the prospects there.
Brett Veach makes clear his stance on bringing back Smith and Hardman
Furthermore, the Chiefs have some players from the 2023 roster still lingering on the open market and could turn back to familiar faces.
Left tackle Donovan Smith and wide receiver Mecole Hardman are still up for grabs.
Per Jordan Foote, Brett Veach was asked about the possibility of bringing back these two players.
Veach responded: “I think we’ll use this OTA period to kind of assess that.
“I think we kind of feel good right now. . . I think for right now, we’re going to let these young guys go out there and see what they can do.”
Veach does not rule out free agency returns but belives in young talent
The Chiefs’ General Manager has not ruled out the idea of reuniting with familiar faces but is confident in the rookies they have drafted.
Moreover, the OTA’s will give the coaching staff time to analyze if they need to go back into the market for more talent.
Rookies are more cap space-friendly compared to experienced veterans, so the Chiefs will prioritize their new talent.
