Andy Reid has put pen to paper on a new deal through to 2029 and has sparked conversations about where he would rank as one of the greatest coaches of all time.
The Kansas City Chiefs confirmed on Monday that their head coach would be staying put for another six seasons.
Moreover, there was chatter that Big Red could retire but has put to bed those rumors for a long time.
Patrick Mahomes is contracted with the Chiefs into the next decade, their success has no reason to be drying up anytime soon.
Andy Reid is poised to break two NFL all-time coaching records with the extension
Conversations have now emerged that Andy Reid can become the best coach in NFL history.
Due to the length of his extension, the numbers have been crunched and the 66-year-old can break two outstanding records.
Don Shula’s all-time regular season win record is in reach, standing at 328. Andy Reid has averaged 12.5 wins per season with Mahomes as his starter so is on course to break the record.

In addition, Reid sits just five wins behind Bill Belichick in the all-time Playoff wins.
Reid resides on 26 and the eight-time Super Bowl winner has claimed 31.
However, with Belichick unemployed in 2024 after leaving the New England Patriots, his record is within sight.
As Belichick is considered the greatest head coach in NFL history, Reid will have to contend with him for the top spot.
Belichick and Reid have been blessed with two best quarterbacks in the 21st century
Analysts have stumbled across statistics that could tilt the scales in the Chiefs coach’s favor.
Both head coaches have had the two best quarterbacks of the century on their hands.
Belichick had Tom Brady and Andy Reid has Patrick Mahomes.
Yet the numbers are contrastingly different when both coaches do not have their G.O.A.T QB.
Andy Reid has proved to be successful without Patrick Mahomes
Reid has overseen 19 seasons in the NFL without Mahomes whilst Belichick has had 11 without Brady.
Their overall records without the two quarterbacks stand at Reid (0.601) and Belichick (0.452).
In addition, the Chiefs HC has logged 13 playoff wins, and the ex-New England HC with just a mere two.
Reid has proved that he can be successful without Mahomes and Brady not by Bill’s side has been the latter’s downfall.
There is no doubt that Reid must equal Belichick’s Super Bowl ring record to argue in the G.O.A.T conversation.
Nevertheless, if he does, then the statistics mentioned could be a decisive factor during the intriguing debate.
