Travis Kelce has urged the Chiefs cornerback to stay in Kansas City – but his situation remains a mystery.
The Kansas City Chiefs are flying high in free agency. The window hasn’t even opened yet and they’ve already begun to take care of the team’s main players extensions.
However, L’Jarius Sneed is still a doubt for the 2024 season. KC put him on the franchise tag for $19.8 million, but has allowed the player to seek a possible trade.
For the moment, there is no evidence that the Chiefs will extend the cornerback, who is hoping to remain in the championship squad for many more years and help in the fight for the three-peat.
Last Saturday, Sports Illustrated insider Matt Verderame posted a tweet saying that the big reason no team would make the trade official was because of Sneed’s high contract value.
The reporter was also interviewed by 610 Sports Radio in Kansas City and claimed that the player has set a figure of $22 million to start negotiations with other franchises. The reason would be that he wants to become the highest paid cornerback in the NFL.
This past Wednesday, the CB apparently responded to the various discussions over his future, with the following words: “On my way to work out & the lies I see!”. Shortly afterwards, the player deleted the post.
There are rumours that the Tennessee Titans and the Indianapolis Colts have made contact to express interest in a trade for Sneed, but there is no confirmation that this is real.

Travis Kelce is hopeful that Sneed will remain in Kansas City
The latest episode of the New Heights podcast was released on Wednesday and it was obvious that the Kelce duo would discuss the Chiefs’ news.
Travis Kelce praised the signing of Hollywood Brown and mentioned with excitement that the team has re-signed Tershawn Wharton and Derrick Nnadi.
The tight end did not fail to point out that L’Jarius Sneed is still a Chief and seemed optimistic that his teammate will still be part of the roster for some time to come.
As the episode was recorded on Saturday, Kelce noted that, up until that point, Sneed was staying in KC. And he’s still on the team.
“As of today at 6 a.m., we still got L’Jarius Sneed, baby. Still there.”
“LJ, man, just stay right there. Just keep cruising, still early in the offseason, just stay right there.”
