The Dallas Cowboys have used their intuition to steal Eric Kendricks away from an NFC rival and this marks the first step in their offseason building process.

Kendricks reunited with his former head coach at the Minnesota Vikings, Mike Zimmer.

Without a doubt, Zimmer would have given his insight into the free agency signing.

However, it comes as a surprise as the linebacker described the Vikings organization as being ‘fear-based’.

Stealing the prize

Nonetheless, the 32-year-old will be sporting the Dallas Cowboys iconic blue star on the side of his element come the start of the season.

One of the issues Jerry Jones alluded to was the Cowboys’ inability to stop the run.

So, they have taken the first steps to fix that problem.

Kendricks is a strong unit, who is a defensive presence.

He has registered a monstrous 100-plus tackles in eight consecutive seasons.

America’s Team’s linebacker unit was cut down to the bare bones when DeMarvion Overshown tore his ACL in his rookie year and Leighton Vander Esch battled his neck injury.

Kendricks helps Cowboys linebackers

Markquese Bell was forced to become a converted linebacker from his natural cornerback position.

So, the signing of the Kendricks has aided a department in much need of talent.

Former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho has highlighted the significance of this addition on the talk show Speak.

He explained: “I want to start with Eric Kendricks of the Dallas Cowboys, that is a sneaky gigantic signing.

“Cowboys linebacker play last year probably graded at a D- or F+ for what it’s worth. Erik Kendricks, he brings you back to a B. He brings you back to solid linebacker play.

“So the only Cowboys weak link of defense is set… Erik Kendrick was an All-Pro under Mike Zimmer.”

The Dallas Cowboys now have plugged the gap with a defensive linebacker.

The age might be a factor that is restricting the optimism of many fans.

Ultimately, Zimmer has the best shot at getting the best football out of Kendricks.

Can he find that player from back in 2019? The Dallas DC is the coach with the best chance of doing so.
