There are still two weeks left until the 2024 NFL Draft and the Kansas City Chiefs have been receiving visits from a wide range of universities around the United States.
Ranked as one of the teams that did best in the offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs took a good look at the free-agent market and brought in some excellent pieces for the team.
Now, general manager Brett Veach should already have a plan in mind as to which prospects will be chosen by the franchise in the Draft.
The squad is already very strong for 2024, but KC is thinking big and any new help is welcome. Certainly all the decisions when it comes to bringing in rookies will be thinking about the team’s long-term future and, of course, the three-peat.
The organisation has already received prospects from UCLA, Penn State, South Carolina, Texas, Iowa and many other universities – the list is long.
On Tuesday, players from Kansas-State visited the Chiefs’ facilities on pro-day and got a closer look at what could await them in the near future, whether in KC or at another franchise. Harold R. Kuntz reported:
Options for the Chiefs in the Draft
Kansas City will focus on some key positions that need to be bolstered on the roster, such as wide receiver, running back, left tackle, cornerback and linebacker.
Overall, they have seven picks to make in the Draft.
- Round 1 – pick 32
- Round 2 – pick 64
- Round 3 – pick 95
- Round 4 – pick 131
- Round 5 – pick 159 (from DAL)
- Round 5 – pick 173 (compensatory)
- Round 7 – pick 227 (from TEN)

Here are some suggestions of possible fits for the Chiefs:
Wide receiver:
- Ladd McConkey (Georgia): Already highly rated in the mocks. Very good quality routes and good sense of depth. He’s also a good weapon after reception because he knows how to maximise his speed.
- Xavier Legette (South Carolina): Physically very imposing, bring a lot of speed to his game, even though he’s a big, strong receiver. His hands are great and very reliable.
- Malik Washington (Virginia): A very secure receiver with excellent concentration and hand technique. Drop rate of 2.5% in his career.
Left tackle:
- Jordan Morgan (Arizona): He has good physical structure and playing strength. His main asset is active handwork, with precise and firm positioning. Very good at blocking races.
- Patrick Paul (Houston): Excellent height, weight and wingspan. He combines his size with good athleticism and is hard to beat. He can mirror defenders and recover efficiently.
Cornerback:
- Renardo Green (Florida State): Very competitive, he’s physical on the move and shows fluid hips to mirror receivers.
- DJ James (Auburn): Minimally experienced, he’ll be 23 in the Draft. James knows how to work zone coverages and has good reaction time, understanding and anticipating offensive actions. Good burst and steady hands.
Linebacker:
- Trevin Wallace (Kentucky): He’s very athletic. Wallace is a rocket and has the ability to cover sideline to sideline and also could be very useful on special teams early in his career.
- Tyrice Knight (UTEP): He has good size for the position and plays with explosion towards the backfield. When he can read plays, he’s an impact threat against the running game.
Running back:
- Dillon Johnson (Washington): Knows how to survive after contact and break tackles, especially running north-south. His time at Mississippi State developed his skills as a receiver, becoming a solid piece in the passing game.
- Dylan Laube (New Hampshire): An exceptional receiver, experienced (24), runs excellent routes and is productive with the ball in his hands. Could be a good option as a returner.
