X reacts as Micah Parsons blasts NFL officials

It’s only his third NFL season, but almost everyone in football knows Micah Parsons, especially the officials.

In his professional career, Parsons has established himself as one of the best all-around defensive players in the league and is setting records very few have done at such a young age (24).

Earlier this month, he joined the late Reggie White as the only two players with over 12 sacks in their first three NFL seasons.

There’s no denying Parsons is a beast on the defensive side of the ball, among the best at quarterback pressures, hits and sacks.

He can clearly walk the walk, but on the flip side, like many defensive players, he loves to talk the talk.

Talking Too Much?

By now, players and coaches know that criticizing officials comes with penalties worth much more than any flag on the field might cost your team.

There isn’t any special superstar treatment when speaking to the media about officials, as the Kansas City Chiefs Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes recently found out.

However, Parsons either can’t seem to help himself or does not care, perhaps a little of both.

After the Miami Dolphins beat his Cowboys on Christmas Eve, Parsons was none too please about a roughing the passer call against him.

The two-time First-team All-Pro linebacker says, “It’s mind-blowing, the things that are getting called, and the positions that we get put in.”

On social media, many were on Parsons’ side about that penalty.

Parsons constantly complains about non-holding calls against him and he’s not alone in that argument.

“Comical” is what he said about the officiating in their victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, with his owner Jerry Jones calling it “unbelievable”.

It’s not just officials, though that Parsons is going after.

He’s questioned the MVP candidacy of Jalen Hurts, while attacking the media for their Dak Prescott criticisms, and that’s just a couple of instances.

But is all of his talking the reason things often seem to go against them?

Parsons on the Refs Blacklist?

NFL players and coaches verbally abusing referees is not unusual.

From Ja’Marr Chase calling out the striped officials for a Chiefs do-over in the AFC Championship Game last year to Joey Bosa’s rage in the Wild Card Round last season, we’ve seen it all.

Parsons may be building up the wrong kind of reputation himself to the men in stripes.

The last thing officials want is to be embarrassed or questioned.

Many athletes have a reputation for diving, which officials likely keep in their minds.

Cristiano Ronaldo, known for his individual brilliance in “The Beautiful Game”, also has a reputation for diving now and again, so much so that referees keep a close watch on him.

Suffering public embarrassment of any kind is difficult in any sport, and that’s not something anyone takes kindly.

While few disagree with Parsons’ criticism of officials, it feels like he’s becoming a marked man by NFL referees.
