Who is having the better season, Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen compared

Since he became a full-time starter, few quarterbacks in the NFL have been able to keep pace with Patrick Mahomes over four quarters.

The Kansas City Chiefs pivot has defeated every team he’s ever played, including Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.

Both quarterbacks are coming off tough losses, with KC falling 27-19 in Green Bay last weekend, while the Bills were on a bye after squandering a late lead versus Philly, dropping a 37-34 decision to them in overtime.

Sunday will be the sixth time Allen and Mahomes square off in the regular season and playoffs, with the record between the two even a three apiece.

Heading into the 2022 regular season, Mahomes vs Allen was the great quarterbacking rivalry in the NFL for years to come.

After what the two QBs and their teams showed during the 2021 AFC Divisional Round, there was good reason for that.

Mahomes and the Chiefs got the better of Buffalo on that day, finding tight end Travis Kelce in overtime to win 42-36.

The way Allen and the Bills’ offense was moving the ball in that encounter, though, Buffalo may have come back to score.

Unfortunately for Buffalo, the rule at the time was that an overtime TD ended the game, a shame seeing that was perhaps the greatest playoff contest ever.

Mahomes/Allen Tale of the Tape

In three regular-season meetings between these two former Pro Bowlers, Allen’s Bills have emerged victorious on two occasions.

Allen has eight touchdown passes to Mahomes’ six in those three meetings, though the Chiefs pivot boasts a higher overall completion percentage of 65.2 to 60.2.

The most glaring difference between the two in the regular season has been the turnovers.

Allen’s only tossed one interception in those three outings, with Mahomes throwing four, one of which was a pick-six.

Both of Allen’s regular-season victories against Mahomes occurred at Arrowhead as the Bills QB had three TD tosses and a 139.1 rating in a 38-20 away victory in 2021.

In October 2022, Allen had a 117.6 rating with another three TD tosses.

Mahomes has been sacked five times, while throwing four interceptions in the two regular-season home games against Allen.

His counterpart hasn’t thrown an interception in two visits to Arrowhead, taking just one sack along the way.

The Chiefs QB is 2-0 though versus Allen in the playoffs with each tossing six combined TDs though Allen has one pick while Mahomes has none.
