When you’re known as America’s Team and were one of the first big teams in the Super Bowl era, you garner tremendous attention.
While it’s been decades since the Dallas Cowboys have won or played in a Super Bowl, for better or for worse, sports pundits of all types cannot stop talking about them.
That was especially the case on an episode this week of “Undisputed” featuring Skip Bayless.
The long-running popular sports debate program on FS1 is known for being an in-your-face type of show, mainly thanks to Bayless, whose conviction and words always come out rather aggressively.
All Cowboys all the time
Bayless is not short on criticisms, and his personality has a polarizing effect, with some enjoying his bluntness on air while others find him too intense.
This week, though, the 71-year-old is facing criticism for the time spent dissecting the Dallas Cowboys.
On an episode with a Cowboys legend from the past, Michael Irvin and another former Dallas receiver, Keyshawn Johnson the three of them talked at length about the team.
In the Tuesday edition of “Undisputed”, Bayless seemingly talked about the Dallas Cowboys for the entire two hours, something extremely odd for a show which covers every trending topic in the world of sports.

It wasn’t all that noticeable while the show was airing; however, in this day and age, when nearly everybody has a phone and social media, someone is bound to pick up on it.
One Reddit user, however, noticed all of the attention focused on the Dallas Cowboys, sharing the timestamps online.
Sports Illustrated came out with a story about the episode, saying, “Bayless made no secrets of where his allegiances lie.”
When he was 26, Bayless worked as the lead sports column writer for the “Dallas Morning News” before joining the “Dallas Times Herald” three years later.
After the Cowboys captured the Super Bowl in 1993, Bayless wrote “The Boys: The Untold Story of the Dallas Cowboys’ Season on the Edge”.
Two years later, when the Cowboys won another Super Bowl, Bayless wrote another book called “Hell-Bent: The Crazy Truth About the “Win or Else” Dallas Cowboys.
That book created a wide array of controversy when Bayless reported on speculation by Barry Switzer, the Cowboys head coach at the time, and people close to him in the organization that star quarterback Troy Aikman was gay.
Bayless later appeared in various sports publications at Sports Illustrated before making a name for himself on radio and television.
“Undisputed” has been on the air at FS1 since 2016 and was co-hosted initially by Bayless and former NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe.
The three-time Super Bowl champion, however, left to join “First Take” earlier this year.
Since his departure, Bayless has been the show’s mainstay, with Irvin, Johnson and Richard Sherman being among the regulars that feature as well.
In addition to all of his written works and shows he’s hosted over his lengthy career, Bayless has also been featured on the big screen, making a cameo appearance in the movie “Rocky Balboa”, the final film in the Rocky series starring Sylvester Stallone.
