Pro Bowl voters may not see his worth, but at least one high-profile receiver does.
L’Jarius Sneed had another big game in pass coverage last Saturday, and it got the attention of Tyreek Hill
The former Kansas City Chiefs receiver who led the NFL in receiving yards this season (1,799) joked on X about Sneed’s physicality against him.
Hill had the only Dolphins touchdown in the frigid conditions at Arrowhead, but that was all the top-ranked offense in 2023 could muster.
Per Next Gen Stats, Sneed gave up just two receptions for 20 yards in that encounter.
In two games versus Miami this season, Sneed’s allowed just a single catch on eight combined targets against the top two Dolphin receiving threats in Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
Sneed Snubbed
Sneed’s performances at the start of 2023 turned many heads around the NFL.
For those who’ve followed his 2023 campaign, though, what he showed in the Wild Card Round last Saturday was just another day at the office.
Sneed only made the Pro Bowl bench, while missing out on a First-team All-Pro selection.
The one thing that may have been working against Sneed in the voting is partly what Tyreek talked about: his physicality.

According to Pro Football Focus, Sneed was flagged for 17 penalties during the regular season.
He gave up five-plus catches and 50-plus yards in a game on only two occasions, though, while not conceding a touchdown in 462 coverage snaps.
Sneed also has a -29.7 target of Expected-Points-Added (EPA), putting him third in that department among all NFL cornerbacks this season.
Those numbers are more than Pro Bowl-worthy; they deserve All-Pro consideration.
There’s still a chance that he gets on a Second-team All-Pro list, but one thing Sneed’s done in 2023 is likely earn himself a big salary boost.
Getting Paid
It’s probably the furthest thing from his mind at the moment, and the Chief’s front office too, but the club will need to eventually delve into Sneed’s contract situation.
The 26-year-old’s four-year, $3.9 million contract expires at the end of the season.
With all of his stellar showings in 2023, it’d be shocking if the Chiefs didn’t bring him back and give him a significant salary boost.
Back in November, Sneed spoke to Forbes about his contract situation.
“I don’t think about that, he said.
“I’m just playing ball right now. That will take care of itself when the time comes.”
Given what some high-profile corners are making and the importance of the position, it seems like Sneed’s due a significant pay increase.
Jaire Alexandre and Denzel Ward are the only corners in the league with an average annual value (AAV) of at least $20 million, coming in at $21 million and $20.5 million, respectively.
Sneed might not receive that kind of money, but he’s certainly worthy of double his current wages at the very least.
