Stephen Jones backs ‘warrior’ Cowboys star to beat injury concerns and face the Dolphins

The Cowboys are optimistic that offensive lineman Zack Martin will be available this weekend to face the Miami Dolphins.

Martin left the defeat against the Buffalo Bills in the first quarter with an apparent knee injury, which kept him out for the remainder of the game.

The Cowboys were battered on both sides of the ball, going on to lose 31-10 as the team’s road struggles continued.

He is optimistic he will be available to face the Miami Dolphins this weekend, telling the Cowboys media: “A fluke thing, I guess. … I’m hoping, this week, to treat it and get it ready to go on Sunday. I feel good about that.”

Martin backed to face the Dolphins

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones believes Zack Martin will do everything possible to be available for Week 16.

He told 105.3FM the Fan on Monday: “Zack Martin, as you know, is a warrior. He had that injury going into the game, he had a bruise there and, unfortunately, got another one on the same spot.”

“There’s no one I would count on more to answer the bell and have an opportunity to play next week,.

“It’s certainly something he couldn’t play through, but we feel good that he’ll respond to our trainers — who will give him every opportunity to play against the Dolphins.”

Nobody felt Zack Martin’s absence more than quarterback Dak Prescott, who did not throw for a single touchdown in the loss.

Many noted that Prescott’s MVP chances took a hit with the loss, but the nature of the reactionary NFL is that a big performance against Miami will put him back in the conversation.

Dallas have clinched a play-off spot but want to finish strongly. After the Dolphins, games await against Detroit and Washington.

The Cowboys won’t take risks with All-Pro Zack Martin, not with the play-offs now less than a month away. But he will be doing everything possible to play, and the team need him out on the field.
