Outspoken talk host Stephen A Smith has hit back at former Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant.

Former Dallas Cowboys star Dez Bryant has incurred the wrath of sports broadcaster Stephen A Smith after he sent a now deleted post on X saying he wanted to fight him.

Bryant has been very active on the social media platform in recent days as he prepares to launch his own podcast.

He said he wanted to get into a boxing ring with Stephen A Smith, an outspoken critic of the Cowboys.

Stephen A hits back

Speaking via his YouTube channel, Stephen A Smith responded: “I’m sad that you sent that tweet my brother. For the record I’ve never had a problem with Dez not one time. I never had an issue with Dez.

“On the rare occasion run into Dez, always been respectful always been cool. I can’t believe I’m looking at a text like this.

“Really bro. What’s going on in your life that you would send a text like that.”

He added that he had previously wanted to talk sports on TV with Dez Bryant, an offer he is now less inclined to make.

“I wish your career had been longer. I was kind of interested in you coming on ESPN and giving football analysis. And then I read this? Why?”

Bryant later backed down, and explained via X: “You right. @stephenasmith my problem is not with you but I do plan on speaking my story on how I feel about a lot of things.”

‘No problem with Cowboys’

Stephen A Smith is known for his deliberate riling up of Cowboys fans on First Take and many other media outlets. It’s something he embraces.

But he also says Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is OK with it, and he would not be troubled if the Cowboys successful season ends with the ultimate glory.

He explained: “Anything I did in trolling Cowboys it’s all in fun, you got a fanbase. I get along with Jerry Jones. He knows its fun. Dallas Cowboys win the Super Bowl, I ain’t gonna lose no sleep its cool.”
