If you plan to travel from Kansas City to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl, you may notice some unique flight numbers on your trip.
The Kansas City Chiefs advanced to the big game thanks to a 17-10 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
Super Bowl LVIII (58) features the Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on February 11.
Between now and then, we can expect hotels in the “City of Lights” to be jam-packed with football fans, while airlines are likely to be fielding plenty of travel arrangements.
Chief Flights
United Airlines (UA) is paying tribute to the Niners and Chiefs as part of the Super Bowl festivities.
One of the new flights being introduced is UA1989.
Those numbers will resonate if you’re among the many Taylor Swift fans.
Her 2014 album “1989” is considered one of the best that year, with hits like “Shake it Off” and “Bad Blood”.
In fact, at the 58th annual Grammy Awards, “1989” won “Album of the Year” and “Best Pop Vocal Album”.
With that win, Swift became the first female to win “Album of the Year” twice, and the Chiefs ironically are looking to win two straight titles.
They’d be the first team to do that since the Patriots in 2003 and 04.
There’s a UA2287, and if you follow Swift and the Chiefs, those numbers are significant.
On Swift’s 2012 album “Red”, her song “22” became a triple platinum hit with over 3 million copies sold in the US, 600,000 in the UK and 140,000 in Australia.
Then there’s 87, a shout-out, of course, to none other than KC tight end Travis Kelce and his number.

The third flight is 1587, again numbers any Chiefs fan would be familiar with.
Patrick Mahomes wears #15 and Kelce 87; put them together, and you get arguably the greatest quarterback/pass catcher duo in NFL history.
They’re not just playing favourites with the Chiefs, though.
United is also introducing UA1995, a shout-out to the 1995 49ers, the last time they won a Super Bowl.
Lastly, there’s UA1849, the year gold rush fever hit San Francisco.
