Miami Dolphins’ beginning to the 2024 season has not been easy.
Their victory in the opening game doesn’t reflect the football the franchise has been playing.
Now, the Miami Dolphins chances of success are much slimmer.
Thursday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills was a game to forget, especially for Tua Tagovailoa.
Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw three interceptions and left the field after a frightening collision that left him ‘stretched out’ on the field.
What’s known about Tagovailoa’s injury
Tua tried to scramble for a first down, collided with defender Damar Hamlin and fell to the ground.
After a few minutes of assistance, he was taken off the pitch and did not return to the match with a concussion. Skylar Thompson took over as the starter.
This was his third concussion in his NFL career.
The other two were during the 2022 season, and one of them was even during a TNF against the Cincinnati Bengals that left everyone worried about his future in the league.
Since then, he’s never been the same. However, the list of injuries has only grown.
Head coach Mike McDaniel spoke to the press after the game to give updates on the signal-caller’s health condition. More than that, the HC showed concern for Tagovailoa as a person.
“For me, I’m not worried about anything that’s out of my hands. I’m just worried about the human being. He’ll drive the ship when we get the appropriate information. Right now, it’s day-by-day health…” he said.
He then explained: “From a medical standpoint, I don’t approach things that I’m far inferior of expertise, I’m just there to support my teammate, like I said. For me to forecast things that I don’t know in my non-field of expertise, I don’t think that’s appropriate.”
As soon as Tua left the game, social media went crazy about the player’s future in the NFL.

Retirement discussion now hovers over Tua Tagovailoa
Antonio Pierce, head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, was one of those in NFL circles who decided to give an honest opinion on Tagovailoa’s circumstances.
“I’ll be honest, I’d tell him to retire,” said during a press conference.
“It’s not worth it. Playing the game, I haven’t witnessed anything like what’s happened to him three times.”
This past Friday, McDaniel spoke about the possibility of Tagovailoa being present in Week 3. And he said again that he’s not looking at the situation from a purely sporting point of view, but something deeper.
“First and foremost, I’m not assessing the injury through the lens of, ‘Alright, so what does this mean for him playing?'” said. “Really, for me, I know the facts are that it’s important that he gets healthy day by day, and in that, the best thing I can do is not try to assess what this even means from a football standpoint.”
“I don’t see how (Tua) would play in the next game,” noted. “I don’t see it — but who am I to know or judge? … But again, I have no idea and I’m not all of a sudden going to start making decisions. I don’t even see myself involved in the most important part of (making that decision).”
Skylar Thompson will be the Dolphins’ starting quarterback for the matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
