The NFL draft is finally upon us! Starting yesterday, all 32 teams will decide what players coming out of college will join their rosters to start the new season.
Reigning champions Kansas City Chiefs had the 28th pick (previously 32nd, but that they traded up with the Buffalo Bills) and entered the event looking to strengthen the offensive line, wide receiver and corneback positions.
KC drafted Texas Tech wide receiver Xavier Worthy. He wasn’t expected to be selected in the first round, but the organisation kept the cards close to the chest and decided to make this surprising move.
At this year’s NFL Combine, the WR broke the record in the 40-yard dash by reaching the finish line in 4.21 seconds. Another speedy target for Patrick Mahomes, allied to the other new addition Hollywood Brown.
As soon as the official announcement was made by Roger Goodell, social media went into overdrive.

Even before the league commissioner announced the Chiefs’ pick, Mahomes ended up posting a positive reaction on his X profile:
And, of course, once Worthy was called on the microphone, the QB tweeted another emoji.
Then he started retweeting and replying to the reactions posted by his teammates.

Hollywood Brown was also excited about his possible new offensive partner.
Drue Tranquill mentioned a quote from Mahomes and added: “LETS GO @XavierWorthy… time to work‼️.”
Charles Omenihu was by far the most active player during Draft night. The list of tweets is long, but you can tell he’s very excited about Worthy joining the team.
After the trade-up with the Bills, KC gave up picks 95 and 221, from rounds three and seven respectively. So the franchise still has four selections to make between this Friday and Saturday, the last day of the Draft.
