The Kansas City Chiefs’ popularity has skyrocketed in the last five years but one of their young fans turned NFL star does not share in their latest successes.

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs’ reign of terror over the NFL in the last half-a-decade has produced three Super Bowl victories, alongside five trips to the promised land.

Since Mahomes was the starter in 2018, the Chiefs have been the most consistent franchise in the NFL. In this time, they have never failed to make the playoffs, winning the AFC West every year, and their earliest postseason exit has come in the AFC Championship.

Kansas City Chiefs overcame a 24-point deficit to beat the Houston Texans in 2019

On the road to their first Super Bowl win, the Kansas City Chiefs demolished the Houston Texans in the divisional round.

However, the franchise made them earn victory the hard way and invited adversity going 24 points down without reply in the first quarter.

An onlooking Arrowhead Stadium was stunned as the number one-seeded franchise fell into turmoil as soon as the kickoff arrived.

The Chiefs demonstrated immense pride and admirable resilience to claw their way back after an enormous shock to the system.

Moreover, Kansas City advanced to their second successive AFC Championship in as many seasons defeating the Texans in a colossus 51-31 scoreline.

Texans star Dylan Cole who grey up a Chiefs fan missed the NFL homecoming

Missouri native Dylan Cole was absent during the showdown in 2019 because of a torn ACL but grew up as a loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Born in Springfield, he played college football at Missouri State and entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent.

He linked up with the Texans but stated that he had no joyful emotion seeing his childhood obsession win three rings in quick succession.

Cole shuts down his support for the Chiefs, despite growing up as a fan

At Justin Reid’s charity golf tournament, the current defensive free agent was asked if he still has an affiliation with the Chiefs.

“I grew up a Chiefs fan but that left the books in 2017 when I came to the Houston Texans,” Cole said to Starcade Media.

“Not at all,” the former Chiefs fan said when asked if he celebrated their recent Super Bowl victories.

“It’s just the profession, the natural competition, and I hate them even worse when I’m playing for another team… but I would love every second of it if I was with them. It’s easy for me to dislike another team that I’m not playing for, you buy into a culture, you buy into your teammates, and you buy into the ownership.”

Cole credits his professionalism as to why he does not like the Chiefs anymore

Cole was very transparent in his dislike for the Chiefs and narrowed it down to standard professionalism within the NFL.

Nonetheless, the defensive player was adamant he would be in dreamland if he was on the team with several rings to his name.

The 30-year-old started his NFL career for four seasons with the Texans before leaving for two years in Tennessee.

Ultimately, he remains a free agent after a lone season with the Chicago Bears and he would undoubtedly be very interested in a move back home, but that is wishful thinking.

Cole proves that sports stars can easily brush aside their childhood support and prioritize their professional conduct.
