After a rather disappointing season, the Dallas Cowboys urgently need a change of direction for 2024.
For two years in a row, the team has finished the regular season with a 12-5 record, made the playoffs and failed to advance to the NFC Championship.
In fact, the playoffs are the franchise’s weak point. Dak Prescott and co. put on a show in the regular season, but it’s only in the post-season that their efficiency drops dramatically.
Jerry Jones, however, has confirmed that Dallas is going all-in for this year, despite the few moves that suggest otherwise.

State rival can ‘steal’ the Cowboys’ place and become the best team in Texas
Many analysts have already placed their bets that the Cowboys could lose their position as the best team in Texas depending on what the Houston Texans produce in 2024.
Week 11 is going to be a must-see for Cowboys Nation. The game against the Texans could reshape things both in the NFL and within Jones’ organisation.
In addition, the NFC East as a whole has strengthened during the off-season, something that could threaten the reigning division champions, i.e. America’s Team.
NFL expert sees Dallas unable to compete with a division rival
Judy Battista, a columnist for NFL.com, has compiled a ranking of the teams in the league that are in danger of losing the title of champions of their own division in 2024.
The Dallas Cowboys are in second place behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
According to her, the offseason is the main reason why the franchise has put itself in this bad position.
“This ranking should definitely be read as concern about the Cowboys’ offseason, which has been … quiet? Underwhelming? Setting aside the odd aproach to Dak Prescott’s contract, the offensive line and running game have changed significantly (goodbye, Tyron Smith; welcome back, Ezekiel Elliott), and likely not for the better,” wrote Battista.
She then revealed the squad that has a great chance of winning the NFC East this year: “The Philadelphia Eagles gave their offense an injection with the addition of Saquon Barkley and used their first two draft picks to rebuild the secondary, adding Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.”
“The Eagles’ confounding second-half collapse last season opened the door for Dallas to finish with one more win and, thus, the NFC East title. Barring a repeat of that faceplant, the Cowboys figure to face a far more difficult path to repeating as the division champions.” explained the journalist.
