Martavis Bryant has been signed to the Cowboys practice squad following him working out with the team on Tuesday.
Shams Charania of The Athletic reported on Tuesday that the Cowboys are signing veteran wideout Martavis Bryant following a recent workout.
Bryant last played in the NFL during the 2018 season when he was a member of the Oakland Raiders. He was a fourth round pick by the Steelers in 2014, and has his best year as a pro in 2015 when he caught 50 passes for 765 yards and six touchdowns.

Newly-instated WR signs for Cowboys after five years away from NFL
The move comes after reports that commissioner Roger Goodell had reinstated Bryant, who had previously been suspended indefinitely in December of 2018 for violating the “conditional reinstatement under the Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.”
Bryant was also suspended for the entirety of the 2016 season, but once upon a time he looked like one of the more promising young receivers in the league.
The 32-year-old hasn’t played in the NFL since catching 19 passes for 266 yards while playing for the Raiders in 2018. He has spent the last couple of years in other football leagues most notably playing for the Vegas Vipers last season in the XFL.

It’s a low-risk, high-reward move
He will likely take time to reacclimatise to the league, but this could be a shrewd move by the Cowboys.
Dallas has one of the top offenses in the NFL this season, averaging more than 27 points per game, however, it’s clear they need some added firepower at wide receiver. CeeDee Lamb is carrying much of the workload in terms of the wideouts, with not much coming from Michael Gallup, Brandin Cooks or Jalen Tolbert.
It’s a signing simply for depth, but it could be a low-risk, high-reward move that becomes a pretty significant addition to the Cowboys offense.
