The Dallas Cowboys have been in limbo during the offseason as they have added just one extra body from the 2023 roster.
Nonetheless, there has been a staggering exodus from The Star in Frisco as multiple players have hit free agency.
Just like any franchise in the NFL, the Cowboys have shared in their injury problems.
Cowboys Nation is desperate for positive news in the midst of there being very little to shout about so far.
McCarthy provides critical injury updates
Head coach Mike McCarthy was present at the NFL’s annual meeting in Orlando, Florida.
He sat down with reporters as he was due to attend the NFC’s coaches’ breakfast.
One of the Dallas Morning News reporters, Michael Gehlken was one of the journalists who conversed with the Dallas HC.
During the question time with reporters, McCarthy addressed two key injuries that the Cowboys endured last season.
Mazi Smith in rehabilitation
Nickle tackle Mazi Smith has recently undergone shoulder surgery as reported by Gehlken.
The rookie out of Michigan is on the road to recovery as he rehabilitates this offseason.
As per Gehlken, Smith has noticeably ‘lost some weight’, but McCarthy has stated ‘he’ll have a better plan’ and they will help to ‘keep him at his envisioned weight’.

Smith was a first-round pick in the 2023 draft and America’s Team will be desperate to get him healthy again.
Moreover, the Cowboys need bodies back through the door and Smith will provide size to stop the run.
Luke Schoonmaker undergoes shoulder surgery
In addition to Smith, fellow Michigan rookie, Luke Schoonmaker is also recovering from shoulder surgery.
During his rookie year, tight end Schoonmaker played 12 games and hauled in 65 yards, including two touchdowns.
However, tight end Jack Ferguson exploded into life during his sophomore season as a Cowboy.
He earned a Pro Bowl appearance and was the starting tight end.
Both the Michigan rookies are desperate to get back healthy for their second-year campaigns, and the Cowboys will hope so as well.
