He was named NFL MVP for the second time last season
At last season’s NFL Honors ceremony, Patrick Mahomes was named NFL MVP for the 2022-2023 season. He won the award by a landslide, claiming 48 of 50 first-place votes and garnering 490 total points.
Mahomes led the NFL with 41 touchdown passes in the regular season and a career-high 5,250 passing yards as the Chiefs finished with a 14-3 record.
It was the second time he has won the award after being named league MVP in 2018. Mahomes is the ninth quarterback to win the MVP award twice.

Patrick Mahomes has been in the NFL since 2017, meaning he has six NFL seasons under his belt and is now into his seventh season.
Mahomes played college football (and baseball) for Texas Tech. In his junior year led all NCAA Division I FBS players in various categories including passing yards (5,052) and total touchdowns (53).
In 2017 he declared for the NFL Draft and was selected 10th overall by the Kansas City Chiefs. He spent the majority of his rookie season as a backup to Alex Smith, but once Smith departed in 2018 Mahomes made that starting QB spot his own.
His previous three Super Bowl appearances
Mahomes has been to three Super Bowls during his career, winning two and losing one. Patrick led the Chiefs to their first Super Bowl appearance in 50 years at the end of the 2019 season.
In Super Bowl LIV the Chiefs beat the 49ers 30-21 and Mahomes was awarded Super Bowl MVP.
The Chiefs would fail to defend their Super Bowl crown a year later after making back-to-back games. The Chiefs lost 9-31 to Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers in what was Mahomes’ first double-digit loss in the NFL.
Mahomes won his third Super Bowl title after beating the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 in Super Bowl LVII. The Kansas QB was named Super Bowl Most Valuable Player (MVP), completing 21 of 27 passes for 182 yards and three touchdowns
He was the first player to win the regular season MVP and Super Bowl MVP in the same season since Kurt Warner in 1999.
