One of the most bizarre moments in NFL Combine history is something Chris Jones is more than happy to smile and joke about now.
When future First-Team All-Pro Chris Jones prepared to set his 40-yard dash time in the crucial NFL Combine for aspiring rookies, I do not think he was ever mentally prepared for what was about to unravel. Some NFL stars prepare to be embarrassed for their slow times they produce… but certainly not a wardrobe malfunction that Jones experienced.
Moments before disaster
Throughout the future Chief star’s run he always seemed slightly off balance and inevitably fell at the end. People may assume this was the embarrassing part, however, the fall may have been perfect timing.
Milliseconds before the fall, Jones’s male appendage somehow managed to slip out of his trunks. To his relief, the fall gave him an opportunity to sort himself out and make the appropriate corrections to his clothing.
Chris Jones spoke on the New Heights podcast earlier in the season, co-hosted by the Kelce brothers (Jason and Travis), where he explained his decision to opt for the short tights instead of the long ones (which all the other players wore):
‘Everybody was wearing the long tights, I was like you know what I [am not] going out there and copying everybody. [I am going to wear] the short tights.’
What Jones did not realise was the short tights were actually a pair of boxers.
‘I didn’t realise they were boxers bro, honest to god’, as he spoke to his Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce on the peculiar incident.
At the end of the viral NFL Combine video, viewers can see the rookie out of Mississippi State utter the words to a near-by staff member: ‘My ____ fell out.’
A tactical dive
Furthermore, Jones explains how he purposely took a dive at the end of the run to hide his embarrassing moment.
All in all, the three-time Super Bowl champion can win as many world titles as he wants but no one will ever let him forget his hilarious combine moment.
