Brett Veach and his trusted front office will have created their shortlist of college graduates who will be their go-to choices in the NFL Draft.
Kansas City’s offseason has been a busy one and they have addressed multiple issues.
They manage to agree to a new deal with legend Chris Jones to keep him in Missouri until retirement.
Moreover, Veach has opened up cap space and recouped draft capital with the trade of L’Jarius Sneed.
Chiefs resign key pieces of Steve Spagnuolo’s defense
Mike Danna and four other D-lineman have penned new deals to develop continuity.
Importantly, Patrick Mahomes has a new weapon in the form of free agent Marquise Brown.
The speedy receiver has signed a one-year ‘prove it’ deal and looks to have a breakthrough season.
One of the more unique signings for the Chiefs was the three-year deal for International Players Pathway player Louis Rees-Zammit.
However, there is still roster building to address in the NFL Draft.

Former scout would be ‘shocked’ if the Chiefs draft a tight end early
Former NFL Scout John Middlekauff was asked if the Chiefs would take a tight end early in the draft.
He quickly shut down that idea saying: “Terrible tight end draft! Maybe the Chiefs will like someone… maybe on the second day?
“I think this Rashee Rice thing, wide receiver, tight end, offensive line. I think it’s pretty clear who they’re gonna take in the first couple of rounds. I’d be shocked if they don’t take a tackle and a wide receiver.”
Middlekauff has very little doubt that Veach will not select a tackle or a receiver to bolster the offense.
The Chiefs could be looking at their potential number one receiver Rashee Rice being unavailable due to his offseason legal battle.
Patrick Mahomes will need reliable protection at left tackle
Furthermore, the Chiefs do have Wanya Morris but they could look for a long-term solution in the deep NFL Draft tackle class.
Patrick Mahomes will be in Missouri for many years to come and will need a reliable O-line during that time.
Therefore, selecting a rookie to play left tackle is imperative for the Chiefs.
It will be a shock to the entire NFL if the Chiefs choose anything but the two positions previously mentioned.
