Fellow GOAT’s Tom Brady and Denzel Washington “Can’t Figure Out” Cowboys

Some of the biggest names in the football and acting world aren’t sure whether America’s Team is a Super Bowl contender.

Tom Brady knows a thing or two about winning the Super Bowl, while Denzel Washington played an iconic high school football coach on the big screen who knew how to win games at that level.

During his career, Brady lifted the Lombardi Trophy seven times, more than any player, while Washington has 10 Academy Award nominations, winning the golden statuette twice.

If you’re a sports movie fan, you’ll remember Washington playing the late Herman Boone in the Disney film “Remember the Titans.

Brady was a game away from the perfect season with the Pats in 2007, while Washington’s character (Boone) guided the T.C. Williams Titans to a high school state football championship in 1971, winning every game.

Washington and Brady recently spoke about the Cowboys’ season and how they feel about their chances in 2023.

Figuring out the Cowboys

Since retiring at the end of the 2022 season, Brady is spending his free time talking football alongside Jim Gray and Larry Fitzgerald on the “Let’s Go” podcast.

Earlier this week, Brady had Washington on the show to give his take on the Dallas Cowboys’ 2023 campaign.

Washington had this to say when asked if the Cowboys had a shot at the Super Bowl this season.

“I don’t know. I can’t figure them out? Can you figure them out?”.

While Washington never played professionally, he is a former basketball player at Fordham under future NBA coach P.J. Carlesimo.

Washington’s son, John David, had a brief pro football career, signing on the St. Lois Rams practice squad in 2006 before joining the Rhein Fire during the 2007 NFL Europe offseason.

When his football career ended, he followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming an actor and playing the role of Ricky Jerret in the HBO drama “Ballers”.

Is Prescott due?

It’s not surprising for there to be Cowboy naysayers; after all, this team haven’t won or been to a Super Bowl in nearly 30 years (1995).

Dak Prescott is usually in the line of fire when the Cowboys lose, which is something we haven’t seen him do much of lately.

The Cowboys pivot is making a solid case in 2023 to be in the MVP conversation.

Prescott’s already equalled his TD passing stats from 2022 (23) and has just six picks and a current QB rating of 75.3 this season.

His spectacular season has caught Denzel’s eye, who called him a great leader who is due for something big.

“I love the kid, I love the quarterback, I love him. He’s a leader of men. He’s a man of God. He’s due!” Washington said.

The Cowboys have never made it beyond the NFC Divisional Round since winning the Super Bowl in 1995.

Offensively and defensively, Dallas seems to have all the tools there to go all the way in 2023.

The Cowboys are coming off a third successive blowout victory, sitting just a game behind the Eagles for the NFC East lead.

As good as Prescott and the Cowboys have been of late, they know only one thing will silence the critics and make them believe their contenders: making a Super Bowl run and/or winning it all.
