2013 was an important milestone in the history of the Kansas City Chiefs.
The franchise entered a fresh crop and took on a new guise after the arrival of Andy Reid.
He came from an already respectable career in the NFL. He joined the league in 1992 to be assistant offensive line & tight ends coach for the Green Bay Packers.
After making his way through the Wisconsin ranks, he took over as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, where he remained from 1999 to 2012. There he established himself as a great coach, despite not going to the Super Bowl.
But it was only a matter of time before Reid led a team to the title… more than once.
The HC crossed paths during his career with other important people who are still in the NFL today.

What Doug Pederson and Andy Reid have in common
Doug Pederson has a deep connection with Andy Reid that goes beyond a simple professional relationship. Both have a long history of collaboration and mutual learning in American football.
Pederson began his playing career under Reid’s tutelage when the latter was offensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers in the 90s.
Pederson later followed Reid to the Philadelphia Eagles, where he was an assistant coach for several years, before they met again at the Kansas City Chiefs, where Pederson served as offensive coordinator after Reid became head coach.
This mentor-apprentice relationship significantly shaped Pederson’s career, influencing his style of play and approach as a head coach in the NFL.
Since 2022, Pederson has taken on the challenge of coaching the Jacksonville Jaguars. In his first year in charge, he guided the team to their first division title and their first playoff win since 2017.
Pederson has a lot of affection and admiration for Reid
The Jaguars coach, at the American Century Championship event, spoke to Chiefs Wire journalist Ed Easton Jr. about the greatness that the current Chiefs coach has in the league.
Reid is the oldest current head coach in the league. Pederson spoke about the importance of his former co-worker.
“As the oldest coach in the National Football League right now, I mean, it’s for a reason, and it’s because of the success that he’s had on the football field, and obviously, he’s to me, it’s a Hall of Fame career, hands down,” claimed.
He relived the old days and revealed that he has absorbed a lot of knowledge from Reid.
“I’ve learned so much as a player from him when he coached me and Brett Favre in Green Bay, which are still some of the things that I use as a head coach now in Jacksonville.”
“Then, when I got to work for him in Philadelphia when he was the head coach there, and I became an assistant coach for him, just watching how he comes to work every single day and his attention to detail and his focus and drive, and how he leads his football teams.”
Andy Reid is loved by everyone
Pederson’s testimony is just one of the countless people who have passed through Reid’s path.
From coaches to players, the 66-year-old is well liked by all. For those who have been on staff with him, professionalism and intelligence are traits that make up his personality.
Amongst the players, Reid is a father figure, as well as a hard-nosed coach who likes everything down to the last detail.
The feeling of gratitude and affection seems mutual between all of them.
