According to reports, the recent Chiefs-Dolphins game in Germany ranks as NFLN’s most-watched international game telecast on record.
The Chiefs’ win over the Dolphins in Frankfurt, Germany, in Week 9 saw them tie the Baltimore Ravens (7-2) for the best record in the AFC.
They also became the first team in NFL history to win a game in four different countries, having now picked up a victory in Germany, the US, Mexico, and England.

Chiefs-Dolphins game in Germany sets NFL Network record
The recent game against the Dolphins was one of the most eagerly-anticipated matchups of the season so far. It saw two of the league’s best quarterbacks go head-to-head, and also marked Tyreek Hill’s first ever game against the Chiefs.
Over 50,023 fans watched the game lives inside Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt, Germany, and many millions more watched it at home.
According to reports, it ranks as NFLN’s most-watched international game telecast on record, averaging 9.6 million American viewers across TV and digital. That’s 66% from the 5.8 million viewers who tuned in for the Seattle Seahawks vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers game in Munich last year.
It is the second-mmost watched morning game
The Chiefs-Dolphins game is also the league’s second-most watched morning game since the average 9.86 million viewers for Dolphins vs. New York Jets from London back in 2015.
Chiefs vs. Dolphins’ also rang up an average minute audience of 465,000 viewers across NFL+ and the league’s other digital platforms – the highest international game for digital AMA on record.
According to Yahoo Sports!, the game’s total rating ranked behind the Week 1 Buffalo Bills-New York Jets matchup on “Monday Night Football” and the Colorado State-Colorado matchup Sept. 16 as the most-watched cable sporting events since Game 7 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat in May.
This year’s three international games are averaging 6.5 million viewers on TV/digital season-to-date – up 20% vs. last year’s three-game average of 5.4 million.
The last game on the NFL’s 2023 International Series schedule will take place Sunday when the Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots face each other in Frankfurt.
