Bon Jovi was overshadowed by Taylor Swift as Travis Kelce struggles in Chiefs win

JoviNation is no match for the Swifties.

On Sunday at Foxborough, Bon Jovi rang the bell ahead of the Patriots’ game against the Kansas City Chiefs, but in the end, it was Taylor Swift and KC making the most noise, with the visitors winning 27-17.

Jovi and Swift have a combined 663 award wins in the music industry, with Taylor well ahead at 638.

It looked like the Pats were primed for an upset, leading 10-7 late in the opening half before an explosive third quarter turned the tide.

Livin Without a Prayer

Jovi’s good luck charm seems to be running out of steam in Greater Boston.

The nine-time Grammy Award nominee and one-time winner famously had a singalong at Gillette Stadium during the 2017 AFC Championship Game when the Patriots controversially beat the Jacksonville Jaguars.

His rendition of “Livin on a Prayer” seemed to be answered by the officials on that day, with the refs blowing down a Myles Jack fumble recovery in the fourth quarter, negating a touchdown which could’ve given the Jags the victory.

This edition of the Patriots are a shadow of that team, that featured Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski.

Swift watched the Chiefs put up 283 yards passing on Jovi and the Pats Sunday, their highest total since having 291 in a 31-17 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.

Chiefs Bumping A Slump

With the victory on Sunday, the Chiefs avoided a pair of historic firsts.

Patrick Mahomes has never lost three games in a row as an NFL starter, and Swift hasn’t seen KC lose three straight live in person.

Both avoided that history, with Matt Nagy‘s offense scoring 20 consecutive points from the late stages of the opening half until the end of quarter number three.

Swift Mist Wearing Off?

While KC recaptured the Swift magic on Sunday, Travis Kelce remains in an end-zone funk.

His incredible lateral for a score versus Buffalo proved to be in vain after Kadarius Toney was flagged for offside.

The Chiefs’ tight end is now without a receiving TD in four successive games after dropping what looked to be a routine catch in the opening quarter on Sunday.

Kelce also tried to draw a flag that the officials weren’t biting on, something which seemed to anger Swift.

The singer seemingly mouthed an F-Bomb after this TD throw intended for Kelce hit the ground.

In 60 minutes of work against the Pats, Kelce had a mere five catches for 28 yards.

Before they visited Lambeau to face the Green Bay Packers, KC was undefeated with Swift in attendance.

Meanwhile, Kelce had 34 catches for 432 yards and a pair of scores with Swift looking on before KC went to Germany to face Miami.

In the last three games that Swift’s attended, Kelce is averaging 64 yards receiving per game.

You can bet Stephen A. Smith will eat that up and rip into Kelce following his disappointing effort against the Pats.

Kelce and the Chiefs return to Arrowhead next weekend for a date with the Las Vegas Raiders.

The last time Kelce faced Vegas, he caught six passes for 91 yards.
