Blaine Gabbert salary, career earnings and draft year explored

The journeyman quarterback has travelled many miles throughout his career in the NFL, as he has never settled on a team since his arrival from the 2011 draft.

Blaine Gabbert forewent his senior year in college to enter the 2011 NFL Draft, which was full of talent.

Blaine Gabbert combine results led to high NFL pick

The NFL Combine results placed Gabbert as one of the top quarterbacks in the 2011 class, So much so, the current Chiefs back up signal caller was expected to be a top 10 pick and people toyed with the idea of him being the first one drafted.

The draft prospect scored 74 in his production and 86 in athleticism, ranking him third and fourth in those categories respectively (among qb’s). According to next gen stats, he entered the NFL Draft as the second highest scoring quarterback in the combine.

One of Gabbert’s strengths was recorded as being able to progressively read various coverages’. The promising draft prospect would not live up to this key strength as he has thrown 50 interceptions to date, whilst only connecting for 51 touchdowns.

The Jacksonville Jaguars were intrigued by his arsenal of talent and were willing to take the gamble with their selection at number 10.

Blaine Gabbert went from starter to back-up

13 years and six different franchises later, Gabbert has now accepted the role of backup quarterback to Patrick Mahomes on the Kansas City Chiefs.

Nevertheless, it has not all been doom and gloom for the 2011 first-round pick as he has won two Super Bowls on his journey. When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated his current employer in 2019, Gabbert sat behind future Hall of Famer Tom Brady to earn himself a ring.

Sitting on the sideline for the Chiefs has helped him secure another ring as the franchise defeated his former team the San Francisco 49ers at Super Bowl LVIII.

Blaine Gabbert to become free agent

In 2023, Gabbert signed a 1-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs on a wage of $1.165 million including a guaranteed salary of $940,000, according to the people at Over The Cap. Now with this deal expiring he will enter free agency.

Spotrac.com estimates that throughout his entire career his earnings have mounted to $27, 281, 851, securing the most money at the Buccaneers.
