Andy Reid praises Chiefs for ‘gutting it out’ in narrow win over Jets

Chiefs head coach was full of praise for his team after a gritty 23-20 win over the Jets in Week 4. Reid lauded his team for ‘gutting it out’ during a tough road game.

The Kansas City Chiefs narrowly managed to avoid an embarrassing loss to the New York Jets on Sunday, edging out a close fought 23-20 win. The Chiefs are hardly firing on all cylinders at the moment – particularly on offense – but they’re still tied for first in the AFC West with a 3-1 record.

It was hardly vintage stuff from the defending Super Bowl champions, but head coach Andy Reid knows all too well how important gritty wins like those are.

After the game, the Chiefs shared a video of Reid’s locker room message to the team, where he praised them for ‘gutting it out’ in a difficult road game.

Patrick Mahomes also chimed-in with a healthy does of levity, apologizing to his teammates for his subpar performance and ‘making it so interesting’.

Reid wins 250th NFL regular-season game to move to fourth on all-time list

It was an ugly win, but a historic one for Andy Reid, who now has 250 regular-season win to tie for fourth all-time.

Reid is tied with Cowboys Hall of Fame coach Tom Landry for fourth all time, who who went 250-162-6 from 1960-88. Reid now sits behind only Don Shula (328), Goerge Halas (318), and Bill Belichick (299) on the regular-season wins list.

Including the postseason, Reid has 272 career wins. Reid’s 22 postseason wins are second all-time to only Bill Belichick’s 31.
